DIY Table Setting

September 26, 2018 by Florals by Jazmin in DIY

One Sunday morning, I jumped out of bed and ran to to the nearest flower shop. A special shoutout to Field of Flowers by the way! I guess I was inspired by something in a dream? I had been wanting to do a styled shoot for so long, but I had my doubts. I am def not a photographer. Stylist? No way. But this morning, I had an overwhelming feeling to create and I did just that.

The idea was to create an easy, intimate table setting for under $75.

Here’s what I purchased:

  • Hydrangeas (2 Blue/White)

  • Petite Hydrangeas (2 Green)

  • Italian Ruscus (1 Bunch)

  • Israeli Ruscus (1 Bunch)

  • Hypericum Stem (2)

  • Mums (1 Bunch)

  • Ash/Cream Charger Plates (6)

  • Textured Glass Plates (6)

  • White Cloth Napkins (Set of 6)

  • Tea Light Holders (2)

I used my own glasses and utensils. So how much did I really spend? $64.02. Not too bad, right?

So, what’s on the menu? Order from your favorite restaurant, heat up and serve! No need for anything fancy - comfort food is just fine. I have a craving for lasagna all of a sudden. Until next time.

Cake Cake Cake

October 28, 2015 by Florals by Jazmin in Food & Drink

I’ve never been much of a cake person, but I couldn't imagine not having something sweet on our wedding day. There are so many options when it comes to sweets! You could set up a dessert station, order a traditional tiered cake or even opt for mini cupcakes/cakepops! The possibilities are endless! My mom makes a killer rum cake and tops it off with homemade frosting. It super easy and satisfying. I begged her to make a tutorial for you all, but she wouldn't budge. I'll keep trying though! Click here for an awesome gluten-free recipe from Gluten free on a shoestring with Nicole Hunn!

If you're not into a whole lot of frosting, then you're in luck! Naked cakes are becoming quite popular in the wedding industry for their beauty and simplicity. Sure the use of fondant looks great on display, but I feel a lil' buttercream is more home-y. It makes you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside! It definitely takes me back to my childhood. I'm all for comfort food; especially on a day that's so important. I know some couples like to go all out with the fancy food, but it's really not necessary. Choose a caterer/baker that represents your pallets!
