A Flower Story: DIY Faux Flower Backdrop

I’ve been wanting to do a flower wall fur-ever and figured it would be the perfect backdrop for my Frenchie’s 2nd birthday! Having a birthday party for a dog may sound crazy to some, but not to fur parents. My pup Nori is my best friend and she should be celebrated! The theme is Ice Cream, and flowers will definitely be present. Well, faux flowers.

This project cost $9. Thank you Dollar Tree!

Supplies:

  • Eight Bunches of faux flowers (depending on how small or large you want it to be)

  • Washi Tape

  • Wire Cutter

  • Scissors

There is a big empty area in our living room where my husband made a DIY succulent wall hanging of the letter E. E is for Elliott, which is our last name. I completely forgot to take a before picture of the area, so just imagine a light-colored wall with an E covered in succulents.

1. Cut the stems off the bunches.

2. Organize your stems. Each bunch had an average of 5-6 stems. I decided I wanted 5 rows both vertically and horizontally. For this project, I used 26 stems. I tried placing my flowers in alternating order so that they wouldn’t be repeated. No matter how you organize, it will look great!

3. My husband did a great job with the E! Time to add a little pop color. Grab a stem and tape to the wall using the Washi tape. I have textured walls, so I needed extra reinforcement (two strips). I started by doing each row vertically.

I used 3 stems of flowers and just tucked them into the E. No tape needed.
